Best Beaches on Milos, Greece

Best Beaches on Milos, Greece

I just traveled to Milos this past summer and here is the roundup of all my favorite beaches that I visited!

I'm going to give you a list of the beaches that I personally went to myself!

All the photos included in the blog are the photos that I took!

I will warn you that you will need an off roading vehicle and an experienced off road driver to go to one of the beaches.

Overall Milos is defiantly worth the time to visit.

My top 5 Must visit beaches in Milos:

  1. Alogomandra beach Παραλία Αλογομάντρα

when we first got to Milos we accidentally ended up on the southern part of the island and the beach bar we landed up at tried charging us €100 per beach chair. Yea absolutely not. So we asked the local Greek waiter where all the locals hang out at the beach. And he told us to check out Alohomandra beach

It’s such a stunning secluded beach with a hidden natural cove that you can drive into. Definitely recommend if you’re down to lay on the sand and bake in the sun.

2. Thiorichia Beach (Old Sulfur Mines) Παραλία Θειορυχεία

Warning, don’t attempt to get to this beach by land unless you have an off road vehicle and are with someone who is comfortable driving up and down rocky hills with giant pot holes.

Thankfully Angelo is a professional off road driver and was able to dodge all the pot holes and keep the car from driving off the narrow roads. I swear at one point our car was almost at a 45 degree angle going straight down this curved narrow dirt road and our right tire was only a few inches off the steep cliff slide of the mountain.

All that being said, the treacherous ride was so worth it! This beach was so wild and magnificent!
The rocks were a stunning burnt orange, purples and reds. It was unlike anything I’ve ever seen before.

I defiantly recommend taking the risky drive to experience this beach for yourself.

And as you can see it’s an abandoned sulfur mine. It was built right around the time before After World War Two, and was only in use for a few years before shutting down.
when you go you can feel the ancient energy of like a haunted ghost town.
It was such a fun experience.

Hopefully these photos will convince you to take the day trip to this hidden gem of a beach!

 3. Plathiena beach

If I were you I would plan an entire beach day here at Plathiena beach. Sleep in, take a lazy stroll down town for a coffee and breakfast. Then head to the beach for the day. There’s a little cafe on the water where you can order food and drinks, there’s beach chairs to lounge and the vibes are amazing. This beach is even wheel chair accessible which I thought was also so amazing!
plan to spend your day lounging bring a book to read and your watercolor paints to keep you occupied while you bake in the sun and dip in the water for hours and hours.
We went around 4pm with the intention of watching the sunset and I felt like it was not enough time. Seriously you could bury me at this beach when I die it was so stunning.

the water is so clear and you could walk out into the shore for about a mile with the water waist high.
when the sun started to set the sunlight was dancing on the surface of the water and it was quite the show. I love every second of it. I felt like a little kid playing in the shallow waters.

then the sun sets perfectly into the horizon of the ocean and it’s such a stunning sight to see!

Defiantly don’t want to miss out on this perfect sunset beach! 🌅

 4. Sarakiniko Beach

if you’re considering visiting Milos you’ve probably already seen the cool moon rocks of sarakiniko that inticed you to research more about the island.
And this beach is definitely worth the hype and more.

it is so unique the land formation is like nothing else on the planet.
All the Greek islands are all volcanic islands that formed at the beginning of time. And God created Milos with an extra flair of beauty.

we spent the morning jumping into the water from the highest point of the cliff. It was such an exhilarating experience and I 1000% recommend!
mmy husband is not a very strong swimmer and he was able to jump in and swim out safely with ease!
I will warn you though that depending what time of year you go the water might be too cold or choppy to jump in. Let’s put it this way, only jump in if you see a bunch of other people jumping in and coming out safely, or jump at your own risk 😅

Definitely plan to come early in the morning. We got up at 7am grabbed our coffees and went straight there. And yes the tourist were already coming in. especially during July and August expect a high volume of tourist to ruin your trip lol.

The key to not letting the tourists bother you is to wake up early and avoid the crowds at all costs!
When we went at 7 there was a decent amount of people already there but when we started to pack up and go by 10-11am it was getting so crowded.
I would plan to leave by 11 to grab some lunch then hop over to another beach to lounge for the rest of the day.

Beaches on my list we didn’t make it to, but made it on my busker list:

Cape Kerdari

Nerodafni Beach

Paralia Firopotamos Παραλία Φυροπόταμος

If you take a boat trip around the island expect to see these beaches:

 Kleftiko

Paralia Agios Ioannis Παραλία Άγιος Ιωάννης

Sikia Cave

Boat cruise companies:

Trinity Hellas - Boat Tours and Cruises

Odyssey A Cruises Odysseus Α Cruises - meeting point

Captain Yiangos - The round of Milos

Book your boat trip in advance especially if you are traveling during the busy season

Places to stay:

We stayed at a cute air b n b walking distance from the port town of Adamantas Αδάμας

It was cute and very easily accessible to the down town area but lots of cars, busses and roads so not completely ideal unless you’re really on a budget and only care about the beaches. We decided to play it simple on our Milos room cause we splurged in Folegandros.

But honestly I would recommend getting an air b n b or a little bed and breakfast hotel right on the water in the town of Skinopi or Klima.
Book a place right on the water so you can wake up in the morning to the beautiful view of the ocean right outside your windows!

If you enjoy the night life scene in Greece I would honestly suggest staying in or near Plaka.
All the best restaurants, shops and bars are all centrally located in the heart of Plaka so it will make your night time routine so fun and easy to get ready and walk outside your door to the bustling night life of Milos!

My last major tip is to BOOK NOW! Seriously villas and bed and breakfast places fill up fast during busy season so book asap to get the best deals!

Ok my Greece day dreamers, go book your dream trip and make sure to email me pictures or tell me all about your travels!
