Marie Petridis

Marie Petridis is an emerging, multidisciplinary artist from

Melbourne Australia, focusing on sculptural forms as a conduit to explore her culture. Throughout her practice, she takes inspiration from her Hellenic roots both aesthetically and thematically.

When creating her sculptural works she uses materials and intuitive processes, such as carving, that mimic those of the ancient Greeks. With her own modern twist, she creates unique assemblies of shapes with bold silhouettes. With the freedom of creating abstract sculptural works, she allows the material to dictate the forms.

Her work is often characterized through its analytical consideration of art elements and principles of design.
